Copenhagen: where to dine
Copenhagen has no shortage of cool restaurants and bars with outdoor seats for when the light summer evenings roll in. Here are some of our favourite spots to go for dinner in the city that provide delicious food and overall vibes:
Mangia /
Vesterbro
Voted the best for Italian food by the locals and they aren’t wrong. Mangia is the place to go if you’re looking for a delicious bowl of pasta in the city that hits the spot every time and never disappoints. Amazing food and a great atmosphere - 10/10.
Bagerstræde 9, 1617 København, Denmark
Nørrebro
It’s easy to assume that eating plant-based can be boring but this cool little gem serving a full vegetarian menu and natural wine is so popular amongst the locals and it’s easy to see why. This place was unexpected for us but we loved the vibe and the food was incredible - you know a place is good when you can’t decide on what takes the title for ‘best dish’
Rantzausgade 44, 2200 København, Denmark.
Delphine /
Vesterbro
A Mediterranean restaurant also in Vesterbro with dishes inspired by Greece and Southern Italy. The interiors also make this place an Instagram favourite as you feel like you’ve been transported to a Greek island. We went for a selection of grilled meats and flatbread with tzatziki which was 10/10.
Side note: the toilets are also really cool if you fancy a pre/post-dinner photoshoot
Vesterbrogade 40, 1620 København, Denmark
Bar La Una / Vesterbro
If we could eat Italian food every day, believe us, we would. We can’t get enough and Bar La Una is another amazing restaurant serving delicious Italian food from the same people behind Mangia (so you already know it’s going to be good). Next door to Bar la Una is Bevi Bevi, also run by the same people, serving an Italian antipasti menu, cocktails and natural wines.
Oehlenschlægersgade 53A, 1663 København, Denmark
Bottega Barlie / Indre By
Bottega Barlie is an all-rounder, good for both dawn and dusk depending on your vibe. Go for a croissant and coffee in the morning or indulge in the Latin American and Mediterranean-inspired plates and wine by the glass in the evening. We love the vibe here.
Fredericiagade 78, 1310 København, Denmark
Bottega Estadio / Østerbro
The sister restaurant to Bottega Barlie, Bottega Estadio serves fresh meat and fish which is cooked in a charcoal fire. The restaurant’s interiors have exposed plaster and checkerboard tiles and wine bottles lining the walls. The food, ambience and overall vibe make this place a popular spot.
Gunnar Nu Hansens Pl. 9, 2100 København, Denmark
Osteria 16 / Vesterbro, Nørrebro
Ok, we know what you’re thinking, stop with the Italian restaurants (can’t stop, won’t stop) but we had to mention Osteria 16. It offers an 8-course set tasting menu with unlimited sourdough bread and olive oil. It’s only a small restaurant but the atmosphere feels intimate yet buzzy. The food is fresh, the wine is on point and the staff are super friendly. We highly recommend.
Haderslevgade 16, 1671 Vesterbro
Ravnaborggade 14B, 2200 Nørrebro
Sønderboulevard 54, 1720 Vesterbro
Circolo / Frederiksberg
Circolo is a Tuscan restaurant with dishes inspired by the Italian region. Fresh pasta handmade onsite as well as authentic antipasti and char-grilled meat and seafood makes this place a winner. We had the costata which we heard great things about and it was so delish.
GL. Kongevej 74D, 1850 Frederiksberg
Ambra / Indre City
From the same people behind Esmee, Goldfinch and Cafe Viktor (all incredible and worth going to), Andra is an Italian restaurant in the heart of the city that blends Scandinavian minimalism with Italian charm. The menu is simple but delicious with hearty, comforting Italian dishes such as the Rigatoni al ragu Bolognese *chefs kiss*. If you’re looking for something similar, Cantina (known for its vodka pasta) is also a good option.
Store Kongensgade 59, 1264 København, Denmark
Aurens Deli / Frederiksberg
Aurens Deli is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a cosy, intimate dinner and a glass of wine. We love the ambience and the aesthetics. It feels more like an apartment than a restaurant with vinyls and books lining the walls.
Godthåbsvej 35, st. Th, 2000 Frederiksberg, Denmark
Bæst / Nørrebro
Bæst is a restaurant and pizzeria famous for its sourdough pizzas, handmade charcuterie and cheese produced in-house using organic and sustainable produce. As well as wood-fired pizzas, the restaurant offers a selection of Italian-inspired dishes from fresh mozzarella and prosciutto to fresh salad leaves from their very own farm. The restaurant is adjoined to Mirabelle, the much-loved bakery so you know it’s going to be good.
Guldbergsgade 29, 2200 København, Denmark
Corsa Pizza / Vesterbro, Østerbro, Islands Brygge, Nordhavn, Selskaber
Another pizza spot that does great Neapolitan pizza. From the same people behind Delphine, Corsa has different locations around the city if you’re looking for your pizza fix. You can also get it to take away for when you prefer to spend those lighter, warmer evenings at the park or outside.
Multiple locations
Slurp Ramen Joint / Indre By
The best in the city if you’re looking for good ramen. It’s like a hug in a bowl. What more could you want?
Nansensgade 90, 1366 København, Denmark
Propaganda / Vesterbro
If you’re looking for South Korean dishes and amazing drinks, Propaganda is the place! It’s a wine bar turned restaurant turned bottle shop with a chilled, laidback vibe and great food.
Vester Farimagsgade 2, 1606 København, Denmark
Beau Marché Café à Vins / Indre City
Hidden away in a little courtyard, Beau Marche brings a touch of France to Copenhagen. It’s a cosy restaurant with mainly locals and lots of creatives. The menu is simple but so good. It also doubles up as a shop selling a mix of modern and vintage homeware sourced from French flea markets.
Ny Østergade 32, 1101 København, Denmark
We’ve not even scratched the surface when it comes to the amazing restaurant options available in Copenhagen. Stay tuned for part 2 of our favourite places to dine
