Shoreditch, located in the vibrant East End of London (and one of our favourite neighbourhoods), is known for its eclectic mix of street art, trendy bars, and diverse cultural scene.

One Hundred Shoreditch

CHECKING-IN

When One Hundred opened its doors back in 2022, we immediately put it on our TBB list. The first thing to note is how perfect the location of the hotel is. Set in the heart of the neighbourhood, One Hundred feels authentic to its Shoreditch roots from the moment you step through the doors. Upon arrival, the lobby was buzzing with creatives working from their laptops in the co-working space surrounded by communal tables and the distinctive elements of art and design that are so notably One Hundred.

Check-in was a smooth experience. We were able to check into our room almost immediately despite arriving before the 3pm check-in time so it’s always worth asking if your room is ready. Our bags were collected by a concierge and brought to our room which was a much-appreciated added touch, especially when you have as much luggage as we do (packing light? Never heard of her).

STEP INSIDE

The room was a winner for us. It’s no secret that many London hotels feel cramped with minimal floor space for the price you are paying (we once stayed in a room that can only be described as Harry Potter’s cupboard under the stairs) so this room felt like a stadium in comparison. We stayed in the Studio room which came equipped with a comfortable double bed, flat-screen TV, large wardrobe space with robes and a full-length mirror (there’s nothing worse than a hotel room without a full-length mirror). The lounge area had a built-in sofa (perfect for napping, take it from us) and a wooden table for dining or working from. The room felt light and spacious, yet the juxtaposition of the dark ceilings and blackout blinds gave it a warm and cosy feel. The interiors blend contemporary design with a touch of industrial charm through the chrome hardware, modern furnishings and palette of cool neutrals accented by pops of vibrant colour through the original wall art and tapestry pieces. The room felt like a hidden sanctuary and a stark contrast to the energy of the lobby area and hustle and bustle of London city life. The contrasting theme continues into the bathroom with black and white tiles and chrome accessories. The room had a step-in bathtub with a rainfall shower, D.S and Durga toiletries and another large mirror, perfect for getting ready.

The room came stocked with tea, coffee (we were eyeing up the Sipsmith Gin) and a well-stocked mini-bar full of treats from neighbouring businesses in the East London area as well as a menu offering room service. On this occasion, we didn’t order anything from the menu as Shoreditch has always been one of our favourite places to dine and discover new restaurants - check out the journal here for our Shoreditch hotspots and recommendations.

One of our favourite parts of the hotel experience was the water stations located next to the lifts on each floor. Being able to help yourself to a choice of chilled or sparkling water at your disposal was a game changer in our opinion and a lovely little touch that we haven’t seen before from other hotels. Speaking of extra touches, the hotel prints its very own 100 newspaper which was waiting for us in our room upon arrival. For us, it’s all in the detail and One Hundred has this down to an art.

ROOFTOP

If there’s one thing about us, it’s that we love a rooftop vibe. There's something about sipping a cocktail while taking in the views from a rooftop bar that makes us fall in love with the charm of city nights. The stylish interiors which take inspiration from Palm Springs showcase pink tiles and terrazzo tables, rattan furniture and lots of greenery bringing the outdoors in. We didn’t get to enjoy the full experience of the rooftop (the interiors might be giving LA but the weather definitely wasn’t) however, we did check out the East London skyline from the outdoor terrace and grab a drink at the bar inside. Brunch is served on the rooftop every weekend as well as live DJ sets and rooftop parties throughout the year. The rooftop is also home to the One Hundred Room, an event space surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows with panoramic views, often hosting Pilates classes - sign us up.

SEED LIBRARY

Tucked away in the basement you’ll find One Hundred’s bar; Seed Library open to guests and the public. Much like the rest of the hotel, the interiors have a cool laidback feel. The ambient lighting added to the mood with 70’s inspired lamps lining the lacquered tables. The wood panelling, orange and red tones and contrasting velvet and leather seating made it easy to forget you were in London as you’re transported to a New York-style speakeasy. We love a dark and moody aesthetic and the bar felt vibrant and social yet cosy and intimate, making it the perfect choice for a date night or cocktails with the girls.

Seed Library is open Wednesday - Sunday, we recommend booking ahead of time so you’re not disappointed but walk-ins are encouraged.

LOBBY BAR/COFFEE SHOP

As well as the Rooftop and Seed Library, there’s the coffee shop serving Ozone coffee and Lobby Bar hosting live DJ sets every Thursday and Friday known as ‘Lobby Lates’ to kickstart your weekend/making One Hundred the perfect place to work and play.

COMMUNAL SPACES & EVENTS

As mentioned above, One Hundred is known for its community spirit. It’s the perfect base on those WFH days with lounge areas and communal spaces to work from, the creative energy is palpable. Different events are often run by the hotel which you can find on their Instagram, as well as meeting rooms and event spaces available for hire.

GYM

Located on the ground floor is a Peloton studio equipped with Peloton bikes with access to instructors and classes for you to book during your stay. Theraguns are also available for a daily charge. If you’re staying in one of the Studio Suites, a Peloton concierge is also available if you prefer to work out in private.

INSIDE INTEL

One Hundred really does offer its guests the full hotel experience, it’s the type of place you don’t want to leave but if you can manage to drag yourself out of the cloud-like bed (it’s a struggle, we know), the hotel is situated right at the heart of Shoreditch offering so much to see and do during your stay. The nearest tube stations are Old Street and Shoreditch High Street, providing convenient access to the surrounding areas however, if you’re looking to explore the neighbourhood then make sure to check out our inside guide to Shoreditch and East London here.
