THE HOXTON ROME

The Hoxton hotel in Rome is a super stylish and contemporary hotel located in the heart of the city, situated in a prime location in the vibrant Monti district, the area is also known for its trendy boutiques, cafes, and restaurants with plenty of options for dining and shopping.. and it delivered.

CHECKING-IN

Never ones to disappoint, The Hoxton Rome interior is a work of art. Combining a blend of classic Italian design elements with vintage accents, the space is characterised by rich colours, elegant fabrics, and natural materials such as marble, wood and leather to create a welcoming and stylish atmosphere. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to flood the space, highlighting the vibrant artwork and design accents throughout the room which creates a unique and memorable ambience. As you can see, we captured images of the lobby area from every angle to share with you.

In true signature Hoxton style, the lobby is vast with a mix of plush sofas and armchairs, co-working spaces with signature Italian coffee on tap (more on that later), a place to hang out with friends or cosy nooks for more intimate conversations.

As you may know by now, we always take full advantage of the flexi check-in, which allows you to check in and out at a time of your choice - a definite highlight and something that sets The Hoxton hotels apart from other alternatives for us.

STEP INSIDE

Without a doubt, this is currently our favourite Hoxton room we have stayed so far. As always, they have thoughtfully aligned the room decor with the neighbourhood and in Rome, they have truly outdone themselves. We are obsessed with interiors and are suckers for unique artwork and detailed aesthetics that make us feel like we’re in a film set so the decor is always important to us when choosing a hotel.

Finished with brass accents, unique artwork and modernised retro pieces such as the Roberts radio, we were immediately enriched into the cinematic magic of Rome. The muted lighting exuded a soft, romantic glow which contributed to the overall drama of the room, reminiscent of classic movies.

We treated ourselves on this trip and stayed in the ‘Roomy Room’. This is one of the hotel's more spacious options, offering a king-size bed, rainfall shower and a balcony which was the perfect space to relax and unwind after a long day exploring the city.

The balcony was a real highlight of this stay, overlooking a quiet street filled with rows of vintage Italian fiats and mopeds made the morning coffee hit differently. Evenings spent here were even better. We’ll set the scene for you… the sun is setting, the dusk light is seeping down onto the balcony accompanied by a gentle breeze whilst Dean Martin is playing on the vintage radio and you’re sipping on Italian wine before heading downstairs to continue the soiree at the lobby bar - the dream.

DINING + THE TERRACE

Before a day roaming the city, you can enjoy a fresh pastry from Cugino; an all-day destination that starts as a relaxed café and, by 6pm switches into a bar, carrying the evening through to late-night cocktails, live music and dancing all night.

Drop into Elio from 12pm, another on-site restaurant serving a range of locally sourced and freshly prepared dishes, with a menu focussing on Italian flavours and modern twists on classic dishes. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, it doesn’t take itself too seriously and is the perfect space for a casual dinner. In true Italian style, we tried the Pappardelle al Ragu which was delicious however when in Rome, you’ll definitely find more authentic dishes in the centre, see our Inside Guide to Rome for all of our favourite food spots in Roma.

If you love to dine al fresco, Elio stretches onto a peaceful and secluded ground-floor terrace surrounded by the hotel's historic buildings. It features pretty greenery and comfortable seating and is the ideal spot to relax and unwind after exploring the city.

INSIDE INTEL

Although the hotel isn’t directly in the centre of Rome, we think this location was more than ideal. Just a five-minute stroll from the iconic Villa Borghese, where you can pass through and be into the centre in around 20 minutes.

A lovely addition to their offerings are The Hoxton bikes which are available to rent from the front desk. A scenic and cost-effective way to immerse yourself in the city, we highly recommend doing this even if only for a ride around Villa Borghese. It offers a unique perspective if you want a more authentic connection with this timeless city.
